On Jan. 31, 2018, the City of Columbia celebrated the first anniversary of the Envision Columbia Vision Statement. Envision Columbia is a set of seven focus areas and five goals that will guide city leaders in a number of areas in how the City of Columbia should function in 2036.
Envision Columbia was first presented by Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin during his 2017 State of the City Address. The Vision Statement, as it is also known, outlines the ideal characteristics and traits of the City of Columbia – a city for all people, a center of commerce, technology and education and full of vitality and inclusion with a charming and cosmopolitan feel.
Over the past year, we have shared the Envision Columbia message to citizens, business leaders and visitors. Our Envision Columbia car is a rolling billboard of the focus areas and goals in the Vision Statement to help us spread the word of how Columbia will grow and change by 2036. The car was even part of the St. Pat’s Parade and the Carolina Carillon parade.
To commemorate the anniversary, we created a 1st anniversary video to capture how Envision Columbia has grown over the past 12 months.
We also created the following electronic newsletters to share highlights from the first year of the Vision Statement.
